Keeping
past memorabilia safe in order to relive the past is something we’ve been doing
for centuries if not decades. It’s not just the photos that make those memories
complete but also words, objects, poetry, phrases; they all add up to create a
special book that is very pleasing to look at and is also a memoir. Scrapbooking
started as early as the fifteenth century as a means of collecting poems and
recipes etc. Later on it gathered fame as people started adding different
materials and objects into their scrapbooks. Creating different motifs by
drawing or by adding cutouts, using buttons and dried flowers, writing poetry
and phrases, placing pictures and even adding fabric are all a part of crafting
a scrapbook. Looking at a scrapbook after a couple of years is always a
pleasure as each and every item holds a significant value in its own way and
helps you remember and relive the past more vividly. Scrapbooking has been around for ages and it’s not
just the owner who receives pleasure from it; future generations also get a lot
of education in terms of the family tree. Various items can be used to create a
scrapbook such as embroidered fabric, buttons, broken earrings, marbles,
pebbles, chipboard, lace, ribbons, sequins, cut-outs of letters, photos, beads,
stickers, you name it and it can be used as embellishments to beautify the
page.
Nowadays,
because of technological advancement, everything has been made a lot easier.
Though we carry on the same traditions, we’ve made everything digital which
takes less time to create and is easy to share. The new generation has taken
quite an interest in digital
scrapbooking as
they get to create albums and pages that they can later share on social
networks. Softwares such as Adobe Photoshop, Corel Draw and Microsoft Digital
Image Pro provide everything that is needed to create the scrapbook look. Digital
scrapbooking is a lot easier as
there is no need for collecting any materials. Everything is available online
and with a bit of practice, you can create a scrapbook page for each day.
Materials, textures, fonts, pictures can all be edited and even created in
these softwares and the options are endless. It is easier to create a digital
scrapbook as there’s no hassle in terms of cut outs, printing photos or using
glue. Everything is done digitally and you can find many embellishments online.
There are various stores on the internet that provide scrapbooking materials to be used digitally. If you have
any printed photographs that you might want to use in your scrapbook, you can
simply scan them; even photos taken from your camera can be easily transferred
to your pc or laptop. If you want to create another scrapbook, similar to the
one you already have, all you need to do is take multiple printouts and you can
create as many layouts as you want. Photos can be enhanced, old photos can be
added, various fonts can be used, there’s so much that the internet has to
offer. Digital scrapbooking is
definitely a hobby that is worth looking into. There’s no mess and you can
never run out of supplies as there are many websites that offer downloadable
materials even for free.
