Many people have the tendency of
saving newspaper articles no matter what the reason may be, it may be a mother
saving a sport that the son’s soccer team or a journalist simply saving an
article that they liked the most in their career. What all these people can
agree is that the easiest way to save articles from the newspapers are to scrapbook
them.
It does not only keep your memories
in one book but it also assures that you have all your achievements in one
place that will not grow old and you can be able to show these achievements
even in an interview of something of the sort.
There
are many people who have stuck to this method and have never had a
disappointment but there are those who have never “booked” before, if you are
one of them there is no need to be worried as all you need to do is follow a
few steps that will give you a good scrapbook for newspaper articles. These
steps are:
1. You
need to keep the paper from turning yellow or from growing old and the best way
to do this is by spraying the article both front and back plus all the
accompanying photos with deacidifying. According to past research you can even
spray articles that have started turning yellow for better preservation.
2. Never
glue down the article or any of the accompanying pictures before you put them
on a scrap paper and the layout of the papers should be of your liking, this
includes the way that you will match the colors of the articles and the scrap
paper plus the scrapbook.
3. Just
for the beauty of it you need to decorate the empty spaces of the page article,
you can do this by using colorful markers or use of stickers that you can
purchase from a local store. This is because the eye would not like to look
back at an ugly looking scrap book. Again, lay all your decorative materials
out before you glue them down.
4. Put
all the articles and all the decorative materials well secured with acid-free
adhesive. There are adequate researches that show that normal house glue works
well as an acid-free adhesive and you should apply it all over the articles and
the decorative and allow it to dry and then cover in a place that moister will
not reach it.
5. You
should then put in the page of the scrap book and do not be afraid as you can
be able to add more scraps if you wish to but keep in mind that you will not be
able to add more scraps after you laminate the cover.
6. One should then
arrange the articles in a chronologic manner such that you will have articles
that are recent to the ones that are past or vice versa. A table of content
would not be a bad idea as well as it will help you keep track of where a
certain article is.
